Walking tour
Walking tour

The history of Dalmatia is a long one and its beginnings are shrouded in mystery. But Salona, the most important archeological site in Croatia, holds many answers and provides the visitors with some valuable information about life in these parts of the Mediterranean. Initially a coastal stronghold and the port of the Illyrian Delmats, the favorable geographic position and good road links to the hinterland contributed to the development of the impressive capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia with around 60 000 inhabitants. Like all major Roman towns, Salona had its baths, basilicas, temples, forum, theater and amphitheater. The once mighty town and a probable birthplace of Roman Emperor Diocletian swiftly declined in its importance in the beginning of the middle ages and was deserted and uninhabited ever since. Exploration and excavations have been carried out since the late 19th century and we have yet to learn the majority of the story behind the place where it all began.

Next stop on the tour through the ages is Split. Explore the city with the guide who loves it and lives it! See the spots, hear the stories and get the best insider tips.

The old town holds many wonders, such as the iconic Diocletian's Palace, 1700 year old living organism, that has witnessed everything from the deaths of emperors to the birth of dragons. Touch the gigantic toe of Grgur Ninski for good luck, solve the riddle of the ancient sphinx and experience daily life in the local green market. Showcase your sunglasses on the sunny Riva promenade, the longest runway in Split. We'll show you the city from its turbulent beginnings to the present, discovering amazing people and stories in the process. Conclude the trip with a breathtaking panoramic view from the Marjan hill, favorite getaway destination of locals, situated just a short walk away from the city centre.

Dalmatian Hinterland
Dalmatian Hinterland

Step into the world of tradition, undiscovered beauty and incredible tastes that is Dalmatian Hinterland. Just a short drive away from the coast lies one of Croatia’s most intriguing and lesser-known regions. More than two millennia of history have shaped the lives, culture and tradition of locals, who are proud to show them to the visitors.

First stop is Sinj, where you will discover Alka, an annual knightly tournament celebrating the strength and courage of brave men and women who defended their city from Ottoman onslaught in the 18th century. The specialized museum holds countless treasures from original weapons to modern trophies. Stroll around the city to find the nearby fort overlooking the center or step inside the church which hold the miraculous painting of Our Lady of Sinj, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Croatia.

Next up you will visit Klis. Overlooking the city, Klis fortress gives you an incredible view of the entire Split area, Adriatic Sea and surrounding islands. For 2000 years it has kept its status as „the key to Dalmatia“, connecting the coastline to the hinterland. Once the seat of medieval Croatian kings, lately it has become famous for dragons, being one of the filming locations of the Game of Thrones series. This stronghold played a vital part in the defence of Croatian lands in the middle ages from foreign invaders. Hear the fascinating stories of local Uskok warriors from your private guide and see their weapons and equipment in the fortress.

After you are satisfied with the pictures you have taken, we will visit the nearby Stella Croatica. Just minutes away, this family estate has been producing traditional Dalmatian hand-made delicacies for years. Take a tour of the production area, Mediterranean garden and oil museum, before tasting some of the finest Dalmatian products.

Plitvice Lakes
Plitvice Lakes

The National Park covers the surface of 29685 ha, where lakes take up to 200 ha, while forest covers the rest of the park. One of the attraction is the 78 meters high waterfall called Veliki Slap which is the highest waterfall in Croatia.

Besides the guided walks through wooden paths, you will enjoy the boat ride accross the biggest lake called Kozjak and a short train ride. Your impression will be complete during the drive through Lika region, its mountains and forestry landscape. Our guide is a Game of Thrones expert of these sites and knows exactly where each scene was filmed and from what angle, so you won’t be disappointed with your group pics and selfies!

Originally used as a park by the citizens as early as the 3rd century, it is a favorite weekend excursion destination and a recreational center for the city. It is also the setting for numerous beaches and jogging trails as well as tennis courts and the city Zoo, all surrounded by the scenic forest. The tip of the peninsula houses the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries.

Marjan is 178 m tall and offers a view of the entire city, the surrounding islands, and the nearby mountains ofMosor and Kozjak. Marjan has become a symbol of Split in the last century and a half, before that it was considered an ordinary part of the landscape.

As the city grew, however, it was left out because of its rocky and difficult terrain, and became, in effect, a part of the wilderness next to the very center of the city. Soon the citizens started to frequent it as a picnicspot and a romantic retreat, its many beaches adding to its popularity as well.
